SUMMARY:Quiz for a Cause
DESCRIPTION:Join us and Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes on #GivingTuesday (Tuesday\, November 28th) to play some trivia in support of Inside the Orchestra. \nHere’s how it works: If you choose to play for the cash prize\, then it’s a $5 donation per person on your team (you can also just come and play for free). The winning team takes home a cash prize of $5 from every other participating team! \nThe rest of the proceeds go to bring Inside the Orchestra programs to high-need children and schools in metro Denver. \nTeams are capped at six people\, so bring a group or come by yourself – we’ll make sure you’re playing with a great group of people. \nBut that’s not all. Since Giving Tuesday is just one week away from Colorado Gives Day\, we’ll have some extra prizes for anyone who preschedules a Gives Day donation at this event. \nJoin us!

SUMMARY:Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony No. 41 (NOV 3 – 5)
DESCRIPTION:This convivial concert brims with music as a celebration of life. Mozart’s final Symphony No. 41—also known as “Jupiter”—is jubilant and vibrantly atmospheric\, and was deemed by Woody Allen as something that makes “life worth living.” Wagner drew upon birdsong and sunrise to honor the birth of his son and namesake of the bucolic Siegfried Idyll\, which is followed by Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams glorifying Sibelius’ decadent and gleaming Violin Concerto in D minor. \nWAGNER | Siegfried Idyll\nSIBELIUS | Violin Concerto in D minor\, Op. 47\nMOZART | Symphony No. 41 in C major\, K. 551\, “Jupiter”

SUMMARY:Stravinsky’s The Firebird (OCT 20 – 22)
DESCRIPTION:Igor Stravinsky and John Williams are two composers who deftly use symphonic music as dramatic tellings of audacious adventures. Stravinsky is featured twice\, notably with the avant-garde and iconic “Firebird”\, which modernized the telling of symphonic love stories with the folkloric saga of love-struck Russian Prince Ivan. \nPrincipal Trumpet Justin Bartels debuts the Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra by John Williams\, who is best known for his riveting film scores in Harry Potter™\, Star Wars™\, Indiana Jones™\, and other hit film series. \nSTRAVINSKY | Symphony in Three Movements\nJOHN WILLIAMS | Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra\nSTRAVINSKY | Suite from The Firebird (1945 revision)

SUMMARY:Perpetual Motion Concert at Shady Grove Pinnic Series
DESCRIPTION:The unlikely pairing of a classically trained violinist and a rock guitarist has yielded Perpetual Motion\, a Denver based jazz ensemble known for moving through genres to create one eclectic sound. Elegant with an element of adventure\, the acoustic/electric violin and guitar duo’s music is a vibrant blend of world music\, progressive jazz\, blues and rock. They’ll be performing at the Shady Grove Picnic Series at Four Mile Historic Park on July 19. \nPerpetual Motion recently released their sixth album which rocketed to the number three position on the Zone Music Reporter chart. The disc\, titled “Rear View” is a retrospective of the duo’s twenty-five years together\, and has received rave reviews and worldwide airplay. \nOn the banks of Cherry Creek\, just four miles from downtown Denver\, Four Mile Historic Park is a 12 acre oasis in the city.  Bring a picnic and your family and take part in this summer tradition that’s been happening for almost two decades. \n“The broad strokes of sound painted on their musical canvas is the perfect marriage of sound\, color\, and vibrations.” \nMusikMan Reviews \n  \n“…the sense of life and the zest for the living of it is “owned” by this great duo…I give Perpetual Motion a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED” \nContemporary Fusion Reviews

SUMMARY:MOZART & STRAVINSKY CONDUCTED BY DERIDDER
DESCRIPTION:For these midwinter concerts\, Andre de Ridder returns to Denver to show locals why he’s considered one of the most creative conductors in the world. The program begins with viola soloist Nadia Sirota taking on American Nico Muhly’s Viola Concerto\, premiered in 2015 by Ms. Sirota and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Mark Stryker of the Detroit Free Press liked what he heard\, writing\, “The music is spare\, tactile and a little spacey\, and seems to briefly open a window on the infinite. . . . By the end\, you feel as if you’ve been on a journey\, happy to have been along for the ride.”
